He played her super tall boyfriend, iirc. The character name shows up as James on imdb, but I can't remember if that's what he was called or if they referred to him by anything else.

It was definitely a charming movie. I hadn't heard of it before I went searching for it because of Elliot, which makes me wonder how it did here in the US, you know?
