MONSTERS VS ALIENS  Honestly, I did not recognize who was doing the voices initially. I did figure out Reese Witherspoon  as Susan and Hugh Laurie as Dr Cockroach.  I only knew that Stephan Colbert was the President based on the credits. I totally was stumped on Seth Rogan, Will Arnett, Keifer Sutherland, Rainn Wilson, Paul Rudd, Jeffery Tambor, Amy Phehler, Renee Zellweger and John Krasinski. (and OMG Tom McGrath as WILSON.. *sigh*)   It is certainly a huge known cast, and the voice acting wall all funny. the lines were witty and the movie in the first 30 minutes was visually stunning  (the use of 3d seemed to decrease as the movie went on). The story was kinda weak and very contrived and not always in a good way.  I think the critics will pan it in a bad way. It does not have the big squishy heart that really makes cartoon movies.  The aliens were not really threatening, maybe I have watched too much Doctor Who.  I thought it was a fun ride and visually it was nice, but it did not have the soft center that I love in a movie.

Rating:  9. Would pick up DVD on Sale

Scruff: A tiny bit to start the show and then smooth sailing throught the rest.

aww.,. yes scruff.. well none.. *runs to ammend review* All the characters are smooth. Maybe one or two with beard.

But come to think about it .. the 2 slackers at the start of the show, they have scruff.. since that is what 20 something slackers seem to have. But after that is it smooth sailing.

It is a really strong line up. I knew NOTHING going into the movie, I did not even know it was a cartoon. Got free passes and thought why not.

Scruff really bothers me, I think it is overused overall in movies. There is no appreciation of a smooth shaven man, nowadays. karaokegal, suggested I add it as a rating. :)

I agree, can't stand the stuff, although I hadn't noticed it was back (except on House, but I give him a pass). I think of it as an '80s, Don Johnson thing XD

PS so was Hugh being English or American? LOL.

I add a scruff meter to all my reviews now, and I am surprised how much men don't shave.

LOL on Hugh - you know I want to say he had American - more whiny then House .. which makes me thing he did use British.. how bad of me not to remember - Can I say accent neutral?

I think I watch too much UK_telly- I don't hear accents anymore. :(
